Outstanding swimmer Alexei Sancov has already acknowledged his commitment to the University of Southern California next season. And as though he were trying to reassure University of Southern California swimmers that accepting him to swim with them was a smart move, he made a splash at the recent 2017 Husky Invitation that took place in December of last year.
Sancov, who is currently training with the exceptional Terrapins Swim Team, achieved some of the best swim times during multiple Husky Invite events held over the course of a weekend. He is demonstrating right before our eyes that he is among the speediest incoming freshmen to enter the National Collegiate Athletic Association system, according to Brandon Drawz, swimming expert and the leader of a consulting company.
Sancov posted superb times of 42.68 for the 100 free, 4:14.25 for the 500, and 1:33.59 for the 200. His times for the 500 and 100 are 1.1 seconds and .3 second, respectively, faster than those of another top high school swimmer: Drew Kibler. This high schooler, who hails from the Hoosier State, has already expressed his commitment to the University of Texas.
Sancov is additionally strokes ahead of Patrick Callan, who is headed to Michigan next season. Callan’s best times were 4:14.6 and 1:34.0. At the same time, Sancov outswam Trey Freeman, whose times were 4:16.9 and 1:34.9. Freeman is headed to Florida. All in all, the 500/200/100 freestyle strength within the 2018 high school class is undeniably incredible. Sancov’s tip-top performances over the course of the Husky Invite weekend only confirmed this.
Sancov additionally split an eye-catching 19.90 on his team’s 200 free relay. And he swam his lifetime bests in butterfly races with times of 1:44.77 and 47.32.
